Smart specialisation for marine renewable energy

The EU Atlantic Action Plan and DG MARE are currently organising a two-day event from Pillar III and Pillar IV, on the 9th from 12:30-17:30, and an EU Brokerage session on the 10th May 2022 from 09:00-12:30 CET. 

This two-day event, entitled Smart specialisation for marine renewable energy,  will take place in Santander, Spain.

Day 1 National Events (in-person) 

This in-person event will focus on discussing the EU perspective on the Sustainable Blue Economy and EU Maritime Energy Strategy.

It will be a joint event between Pillar III, Pillar IV and IH Cantabria, which will go over the objectives of the Atlantic Action Plan and the issues that MRE (Marine Renewable Energy) currently has when delivering sustainability and improving ocean health (EIA, etc). Moreover, a brainstorming session for potential project ideas on the subject of “The Future we want for Marine Renewable Energies in the Atlantic Area” will take place.

Day 2 EU Brokerage session (hybrid)

A hybrid event by DG MARE in cooperation with the Atlantic sea basin strategy and its assistance mechanism, organises a dedicated brokerage session to inform stakeholders and promote the potentialities of S3 interregional partnerships, in particular in the framework of the I3 instrument and the currently open calls, specifically focusing on offshore renewable energy (offshore wind and ocean energy). S3 are a useful tool to support transition towards a sustainable blue economy by creating the necessary innovation ecosystems in Member States and Regions while promoting investments that boost the competitiveness of blue economy sectors.
