France – Mercredi 18/07/2018 – STX becomes Chantiers de l’Atlantique. This new name was announced by Bruno Le Maire, French Minister of Economy and Finance during his last visit in Saint-Nazaire on June 14th.

The information was confirmed yesterday during the company’s shareholder’s meeting. 84.3% is now owned by the French state, 11.7% by Naval Group and 1.6% by local companies (COFIPME).

In few weeks 2.4% will be owned by the company’s employees.

As per the French – Italian agreement signed in September 2017, the Italian group Fincantieri will be part of the capital once the necessary authorizations obtained. The name Chantiers de l’Atlantique was given in 1955 while Ateliers et Chantiers de la Loire merged with Chantiers de Penhoët. In 2006, when ALSTOM sold the yard to the Norwegian group Aker Yards, the company lost its name. Twelve years later, the new shareholders decided as a self-evident fact to recover the name Chantiers de l’Atlantique as it is a mark of renown throughout the world. This decision has been greeted by all the employees with great proudness.
